Williamsburg Trip: Second Cousins!

On our last morning there, we snapped a few pictures of the little ones together (oh! I just realized we never got a picture of the four of us! oh no!). Eloise has some growing to do to catch up to Sofia! It was cute to see them 'interact' - meaning, poking each other unintentionally in the ears and eyes.

Beginning of the Eloise steamroll...

...agh! Practicing rolling. Haha.

Thanks again for having us, Chris and Karim and Sofia! We LOVED spending time with you, and are so glad we drove up there. You are GREAT hosts!

Williamsburg Trip: Snow!

We knew the weather reports for the weekend involved snow in Virginia (well, we found out after we were already there), and then it said it was a 90 PERCENT chance of snow Sunday night and Monday morning. AH! If you know me well, you know that me and snow do not mix, not at all. I don't like playing in it or driving in it or walking in it or getting cold from it...the only way I like it is from inside, seeing it fall, while I drink hot chocolate, and then it melts by the time I need to go outside.
But, I was greatly outnumbered in the Jones' house, and so we watched it fall with great anticipation Sunday night, and woke up to a wintery wonderland. A lot more fell than I anticipated, but it only stuck in the good places (the back and front yards). We woke up and basically ran outside, after bundling the babes up really well of course.
Their neighbors were outside, as well, sledding down their little hill in the backyard, so the snow-lovers took the babies down a couple of times. Lots of fun picture opportunities here (which I was glad to have as an excuse not to sled - only done it once, and that's enough for me!).
Okay, enough about my detestation of snow. It was fun, and magical, and winter-y, and a  fun way to end our trip.

Hit with a snowball!

Williamsburg Trip: Colonial Williamsburg

We ended up going back to Colonial Williamsburg the next night so I could try and get pictures of the cool buildings, but it was getting way too dark by the time we got there, so I just snapped a few and called it good. Some day I'll go back with my camera and get the ones I envisioned, but for now, these two give you a little feel for the history there. I absolutely loved the feel of this place, and decided I'd love to end up somewhere with this kind of rich history to be surrounded by.
After walking around for a bit, we stumbled upon a Tako Truk (yup, that's how they spelled it) that served Asian-American-Mexican blends of tacos. And the best part? FREE, thanks to the Asian-American association at William & Mary. Yeah, pretty awesome. And the best part? We had been walking along, trying to decide what to eat for the night, and couldn't decide between Asian food or Mexican food, and then I jokingly said that thing up ahead looked like a taco truck, and lo and behold - Tako heaven.

Bruton Parish Church

Governor's Palace! Wouldn't you love to live here?

I love seeing men with their babies, pushing strollers. It gives me those warm heart feelings.

Dylan has wanted to take a picture in front of a canyon a couple times since moving here, and we finally did it! Doesn't Eloise look awesome sitting on top of it?

Williamsburg Trip: Ferry to Surry, VA

Over the weekend, we had the AWESOME chance to drive up to Williamsburg, Virginia, to stay with Dylan's cousin, Chris, and his wife (Karim) and new baby (Sofia). Sofia is just two months, to the day, older than Eloise. It was so fun to see the developments we have to look forward to with Eloise in the next couple months.
It was a great trip, even with little Eloise being sick (snuffaluffagus) and it SNOWING! Ah! Although, Dylan would say that was one of the best parts of the weekend. Dylan doesn't have class Fridays or Mondays, so we made a 4-day weekend out of it. The first night, we went to colonial Williamsburg and walked up and down, and ate at The Cheese Shop (yummmm). No camera that night.
The next day, Saturday, we took the ferry across the James River to Surry, VA, and ate at a quaint, backwoods diner that was delicious and straight out of 50 years ago. Here are pictures from the ferry ride (Eloise's first boat ride).

Eloise Jayden: 3 Months Old

Our girl celebrated her 3-month birthday on February 2nd. She wasn't in the most smiley of moods when I took these, but it was the only day with natural light all week, so we went with it

Yup, caught that spit-up on camera

She just keeps filling out more and more. It's amazing to think of how scrawny she was two months ago, and now she has a little gut and chunky thighs, And those chipmunk cheeks! Love!
